GO PANTHERS!!!



“Do we have a good team this year?  I’ll tell you in 20 years.”

Those words have stuck with me ever since I heard them.  I was speaking with Joe Ehrmann, the former Pro-Bowl lineman for the Baltimore Colts and current high school football coach who had been named “The Most Important Coach in America” by Parade Magazine.  Joe’s high school team had been nationally ranked, delivered multiple undefeated seasons, and sent players to top colleges and the NFL, but his unwavering focus was on the kind of husbands, fathers, and men his players became in life. So, whenever anyone asks Coach Ehrmann “how the team looks this year,” they get the 20-year answer.

That’s the spirit behind why I and my fellow board members got involved in the O’Connor Booster Club.  We believe that great men and women emerge from communities that support their boys and girls, that cheer them on, that share with them in the ups, downs, hopes, and fears of competition…that care how those boys and girls carry themselves, and who they become.

Our booster vision is to create a “Family of Families” at O’Connor High School, to rally the community around our young people and to remind our young people that they represent all of us on the field of play.  And, of course, to continue the O’Connor tradition of winning in each and every sport, at each and every level, year after year after year.

The Booster Club gives scholarships to O’Connor athletes who live up to the school’s proud tradition of excellence on and off the field; we raise money for the vital needs of all men and women’s sports; and we organize “give back” events that more closely connect the school and community.  We are volunteers, and we need your help: Support our mission by joining the booster club, by purchasing our merchandise, by supporting our various fundraising events…and by volunteering alongside the rest of us.  Please email me directly at kfreeman@thealigngroup.com and let me know you want to get involved.
